Will Transcript

In the name of God Amen, I Margaret Armstrong of the County of Rowan and State of North Carolina being sick of Body yet of Sound and Perfect memory Understanding and Memory and calling to mind the Mortality of my Body do make this my last Will and Testament, and principally and first of all, I recommend my soul to God who gave it nothing doubting to Receive it again at the general Resurrection by the mighty Power of God and my body to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, and as touching such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me within this life I give devise and dispose of in the following manner and first I bequeath and give to my well beloved Brother Abel Armstrong my part in a Negro boy named Andy.

Second I give and bequeath to my three Daughters viz: Elizabeth, Mary & Margaret all my part in 4 Negroes viz. Adina & Matt, Simon and ill third.

I order my two Horses to be kept for the use of my Children upon the Plantation so long as they continue in a family capacity ~ one of the Horses which is a Roan Colour to be the property of my well beloved Daughter Elizabeth and our Gray Mare to be sold and equally Divided amongst my Children.

I constitute and appoint Abel Armstrong and John Graham Senr. my Executors of this my last Will and Testament and Trustees for my Children.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of Apl. in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Ninety two.

   Margaret Mary Woods was born about 1 October 1744 in Botetourt County, Virginia. The Fiat Family tree says that she was born 1744 in Rowan County, North Carolina.
   
   Her parents were John Wood, Jr and Frances (Holden) Wood. - questionable, needs research
   
   Margret married on 23 August 1768 in Rowan County to Capt. William Armstrong. She is named in the will of William's father, John Armstrong.
   
   Margaret and William Armstrong had several children. Based on her will, the children living in 1792 were:
   
   Elizabeth Armstrong
   Margaret Armstrong
   Mary Jane Armstrong
   Samuel Armstrong
   Sarah Armstrong
   Margaret's last will and testament were filed in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina, on 21 April 1792, which implies that she passed away before that date. Some sources online claim she passed away about 1806.
