Margaret Catherine Hutchings was baptised on 23rd February 1840 at Crewkerne in Somerset, daughter of a shepherd named James Hutchings and his wife Mary Ann. Margaret appears to have been the eldest of three children. The 1841 census finds Margaret living with her parents and next door but one to her paternal grandfather at Woolminstone, a hamlet in the rural part of Crewkerne parish away from the town itself.

The family was still there in 1851. Margaret has yet to be traced after 1851.

As Margaret has not been found in the 1861 census, nor does there appear to be a marriage for her, this death appears to be the most likely explanation for what happened to her. Death certificate needs to be obtained to confirm.
