Malinda (Knapp) Parish daughter Olive (Parish) Sunderland death record says her father's birthplace is Wisconsin and her mother's birthplace is Michigan. That is incorrect since the parents always said in the Federal Census they were born in New York State. But in the 1850 Federal Census they are in those state.

Note: Miles Parish married three times, the first two were both named Malinda.

In contrast to the forgoing statement, the 1880 Federal Census indicates that Malinda (second wife) was born in Ohio:
