Person:Malchariette Shankland (1)

According to a query on the Shanklin Family Forum Board, Malchariette Eveline was the daughter of William J. Shankland and Mary Lee. She married Jacob Anderson. {Shanklin Family Genealogy Forum, 9 Dec 1998, <www.genealogy.com>} They had 3 children: Frank O. 1865- m. Jennie Perkins; Lura M. 1867- m. Benjamin F. Simmons; and Minnie Vie 1869-1941) married Edgar C. Swift.

 NOTE: I have not found Malchariette in the 1850 census.  It is possible she had a previous marriage.
 In the 1860 census for Boone Co., Indiana, Solomon Witt is justice of the peace, age 43 from South Carolina.  His wife Hester A. is 47 from Kentucky.  Their daughter Vie is 9, born Indiana.  Also living with them as 'domestic' is [niece to Hester] 'Malchariette' Shankland, age 26 from Kentucky. {p.666}
 There is a marriage record for 'Malchariot Shankland' and Jacob Anderson in Boone Co. Indiana {Indiana Marriage Collection, <www.ancestry.com>} In the Beck Cemetery, there is a listing for Mary Jane Anderson, wife of Jacob, who died in 1864 at age 29 -- possibly Jacob's first wife. {<http://www.rootsweb.com/~inboone/cemeteries/beck-cemetery.htm>}
 In the 1870 census for Washington, Boone Co., Indiana, Jacob Anderson is 42 from Virginia, farmer; Evaline is 34 Kentucky, John S. 12, Frank O. 5, Lury M. 3, and Minnie 11 months -- all born Indiana. {p. 273}
 In the 1880 census for Washington, Boone Co., Indiana, Jacob Anderson is 52 from Virginia, (parents same) farmer; Eveline is 44 Kentucky (parents same); children are Frank 15, Lury M. 13, and Minnie 10 months -- all born Indiana, father Virginia, mother Kentucky. {p. 54a}
 In the 1900 census for Washington, Boone Co., Indiana, Edgar Swift is 32, b. 1867, m. 13 years, farmer; wife Minnie V. is 30, born June 1869 in Indiana (father Virginia, mother Kentucky); their children are Jeanne E. 9; Allen J. 7; and Mary 3 -- all born Indiana.  Mother-in-law Malchariet [indexed as 'Malchariel'] Anderson is 69, born May 1831 in Kentucky (parents same), widowed with 3 of 3 children living. {ed 23, sh 12b,  p. 263}
 According to WorldConnect databases, Frank O. Anderson married Jennie Perkins (1866-1901) in 1890 in Boone Co.; and 'Lena' M. Anderson married Benjamin F. Simmons in 1886 in Boone Co. Minnie Vie Anderson married Edgar C. Swift (1868-1946)
 Lura is found in Center, Boone Co., with husband Benjamin in 1900 and 1910 [indexed as 'Sommers'] and children Georgia, Leona, and Olon. Frank is found in 1900 in Boone Co. with family; his children Lyle L. and Ruby F. are living with grandmother Nancy Perkins in 1910.   Edgar C. and Minnie Swift are in Boone in 1900, Jennings Co. in 1910, and Palm Beach Co., Florida in 1920.
 NOTE: I have not been able to locate Malchariette in the 1910 census. She is not with any of her children.
 In the 1920 census for Center, Boone Co., Indiana, Benjamin Simmons is 52 born Indiana (parents same), farmer; with wife Lura M. 53 IN (father Virginia, mother KY); and mother-in-law Evaline Anderson 88 Kentucky (parents same), widow. {ed 1, sh 7b, p. 7, roll 423 HeritageQuest}
 I believe Jacob may be the Jacob, or Jake, Anderson listed as dying in 1895 at age 67 in Boone Co.{<http://www.rootsweb.com/~inboone/deaths/deaths1882_1920_a.htm>} There is also a listing for 'Mulchariott Anderson' died 1920 at age 89.
