Thompson, 70, of Clovis will be held on Fri. at 2:30 in the afternoon at Steed-Todd Chapel. The Rev. Jesse Shaver will officate. Buriel will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Steed-Todd Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Thompson died on Tues. Sept. 19, 1989 at Lubbock Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, TX. He was born on Sept. 23, 1918 in Red Oak, OK. He was a lifelong resident of Clovis and a Civil-Engineer with Civil Service. He was a member of Prince St. Baptist Church, Clovis Lions Club, Clovis Masonic Lodge #40 AFAM, Shriners, Scottish Rite and VFW. He served with the US Army during World War II. He married Dorothy Dean Rose on July 17, 1941 in Portales. Survivors include one daughter, Annette James, Lubbock, TX, one son, Scottie Thompson, Savannah, MO, one sister, Opal Jackson, Clovis, one brother, Austin Thompson, Amarillo, TX, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on July 10, 1988, four brothers and one sister. Casket bearers will be Darrell Bailey, Bob Thompson, Danny Thompson, Jamie Cooper, Truett Hardage and Buddy Thompson. Honorary bearers will be Veterans of Foreign Wars.
