    Stephens
    Leona Dale Stephens passed away Thursday, January 11, 1962, at the Ham nursing home on South Wabash, Howard, Kansas. She was born January 19, 1893 at Mill Grove, Missouri the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Collins.
    She was married to Hershel Stephens at Howard, Kansas March 14, 1911 by the Rev. Cullison. To this union were born three sons and one daughter. For the last thirty-nine years they made their home on South Cedar in Howard, where they observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Stephens became a member of the Methodist church when a young girl and remained a faithful and devout member. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 154, the Past Noble Grand Club, the Friendly Quilting club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
    She was ready to help anyone who needed help and was always kind and cheerful. Throughout the last two years, in spite of her illness, she remained interested and concerned about her family, friend and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, her parents and one son.
    A loving mother and wife has gone to rest and leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Hershel, of the home; one daughter, Edith, of Missouri; two daughters-in-law, Betty and Menzenita; one son-in-law, Frank; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Henderson of Severy and Mrs. Edith Andrews of Howard, and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Spurrier Watt Funeral Home, January 13, 1962 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Clarence L. Harder of the local Methodist church officiating. Mrs. Willard Morss and Mrs. Dean Brown sang two songs, accompanied by Mrs. Willis Miller. Casket bearers were John C. Garison, Jr., Ed Gregor, Harvey VanBuskirk, George Sharp, James W. Eby and Arch Clark. Concluding services and interment were in Grace Lawn cemetery, Howard, Kansas.
