    Born July 23, 1932, in Manchester, he was the son of Nelson H. and Gladys M. Ellison Ring. He lived in Auburn the past 42 years.
    He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
    Mr. Ring had owned Leisure Time Distributors (formerly Ring & Cavanaugh).
    He enjoyed horses, both racing and boarding them, flying his airplane and boating at the ocean. A "tinkerer," he liked disassembling and assembling motors and machinery.
    The family includes his wife of two years, Sharon Thompson Ring of Auburn; a stepdaughter, Erin Cousins of Auburn; a brother, Howard C. Ring of Concord; a sister, Irma G. Ranfos of Manchester; a foster sister, Marjory Newell of Marlow; nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
    Mr. Ring was known for his sense of humor and loved to tease, especially his wife about her cooking. He also enjoyed spending time with his brother-in-law, John Ranfos, his sister-in-law, Marion Ring, and his foster brother-in-law, Jim Newell.
    Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., corner of Harrison Street.
    The funeral is Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Christopher J. Emerson, senior minister of First Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
