Leland owned gas stations and sold fuel oil. Later in life he made wooden school supplies out of his basement, and patented a Cella liner for drawing music staves on chalk boards.

Leland played saxophone in a band. His wife Marcella played piano and their daughter Eva played violin or fiddle.

Leland was drafted in the army but by the time he reached Albany the war had ended.

    MANCHESTER - Leland F. Schlieder, 64, died Wednesday in a Granville, N.Y., nursing home after a long illness.
    Born Oct. 14, 1899, he came to Manchester in 1913 and graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1917.
    In 1919 he married the former Marcella McDevitt. He was in the ROTC and attended Albany Law School in 1919. An official of the N.B. Cass Co., he became president of Ryan and Schlieder of Manchester Depot in 1925 until 1956. Since then he had been associated with Schlieder and Co., manufacturers of school supplies.
    He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Manchester, a charter member and past president of the Manchester Rotary Club and past president of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce. He had been a member of the Manchester Band for several years and a selectman for six years. He was also a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks.
    Surviving besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs Frances Ryan, and Mrs. Eva Lou Kilburn, of Manchester Center, and Mrs. Janet Anderson of Williamstown, Mass.; two sons, Victor Schlieder of Hanover, N.H., and Richard Schlieder in the U.S. Navy; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Paul's Church by the Rev. Donald C. Kelly. Burial will be in Dellwood Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the Brewster Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Leland F. Schlieder, 64, of Manchester, Vt., father of Mrs. Janet Anderson of Williamstown, died Wednesday in a Granville (N.Y.) Nursing Home following a long illness.
    He had been a resident of Manchester since 1913 and was graduated from the Burr and Burton Seminary in 1917. He was in the ROTC and attended Albany Law School in 1919. An official of the N.B. Cass Co., he became president of Ryan and Schlieder Co. in Manchester Depot; serving from 1925 to 1956. Since then he had been associated with Schlieder & Co. manufacturers of school supplies.
    He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, a charter member and past president of the Manchester Rotary Club, past president of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Manchester Band for several years. He also was a town selectman for six years and was a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks.
    He leaves his wife, the former Marcella McDevitt; two other daughters in Manchester Center; two sons, 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 9 tomorrow in St. Paul's Church, Manchester, with burial in Dellwood Cemetery, Manchester.
    Calling hours at the Brewster Funeral Home, Manchester, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today.

    Marcella McDevitt of South Dorset and Leland F. Schleider of Mancliester Depot were united in marriage Monday morning at St. Jerome's Catholic church in East Dorset with Rev. E. C. Fountaine, pastor of the church, celebrating the nuptial mass. The bride's attendent was her sister, Miss Clara M. McDevitt and James Burns acted as best man. The bride was attired in a gray silvertone suit and carried a bouquet of white carnations while the bridesmaid wore an olive green suit and carried pink carnations. A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride to the immediate families and near relatives after which the bridal couple left by automobile for Bennington where they took the flyer for Detroit, Michigan. They will spent their honeymoon in Toledo, Ohio. The bride was the recipient of many gifts of cut glass, silver, linen and money. The bride's gift to her attendant was a gold brooch while the groom's gift to the best man was a diamond stick pin.
    Both Mr. and Mrs. Schleider are graduates of Burr and Burton seminary and have many friends who wish them much future happiness.

    A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride to the immediate families after which the bridal couple left on their honeymoon which will be spent in Buffalo and Detroit. On their return they will reside at Manchester Depot.
    Both Mr. and Mrs. Schlieder are graduates of Burr and Burton Seminary, class of '17.
