About Lawrence E. Daley

Larry Daley served his country and enlisted in the United States Army on 23 May 1944, and served in the United States Army Air Forces, which is the direct predecessor of the United States Air Force, as a fighter pilot, in World War II. He flew many missions including one providing air support for a bomber squadron in Okinawa. He was discharged on 19 September 1947 after the conclusion of the war. In 1950, Larry applied for World War II additional compensation for his military service and he was granted an additional $440 for his service. Larry worked in the Aerospace Industry for many years, spending much of career with the Lockheed Missile and Space Division in Canoga Park, California. He was a Project Manager and Manager of System Checkout Equipment in the mid-1960's. Larry had a heart attack suddenly while playing a round of golf, passing away before many of his life-long Army Air Force friends on 29 April 1990. One of his good friends and co-workers at Lockheed Missile and Space Division was Elwood C. "Bud" Veregge (1922-2013).
