Our Valiant Men, Louise Lynch (Rev War Soldier, Joseph Wilson died 1823)

Joseph Wilson killed a Tory and carried off his rifle which was inpossession of his son, David Wilson, of Maury Co. TN in 1850; PioneerWomen of the West, Elizabeth Ellet. Josiah Wilson (brother of Joseph)stated Joseph Wilson was at the siege of Charleston under Genl Lincolnand both he and his brother Robert were prisoners of war at thesurrender of Charleston, laid down their arms, and were paroled andreturned to their fathers house at Steele Creek about the 1st of June1780 being about two or three weeks after the surrender. ApparentlyJoseph Wilson did not move to Williamson Co. TN until after 1814.
    * I don't believe the Joseph Wilson who married Sarah White (livingSumner Co. TN) is Joseph Wilson son of Robert Wilson and EleanorCarothers. Many people have confused the two men based on the article inthe book Our Valiant Men, by Louise Lynch. This confusion continuesdespite evidence showing Joseph Wilson died 1823 in Williamson County andwas married (1) Nancy Ferguson and (2) Jane Mitchell. Pioneer Women ofWest by Elizabeth Ellet also had the story of Mrs. Joseph Wilson beingcaptured by Indians, but I believe this was Sarah, the wife of JosephWilson who lived in Sumner Co. TN.
