1824 August 1824 Joseph Spire died intestate, resident of Halfmoon. Matte (Martha) Spire renounced her right to administer on the goods, chattels and credits of Joseph Spire and Joseph Spire and Micah Hedgeman were appointed administrators.

His ligal heirs were: Joseph, Richard, John (his sons).

1825 April 6th Martha/Matte applied to the surrogate court for her one-third share (dower rights) of the property he had owned in Halfmoon.

1825 May 24th She is granted some land but the description is illegible.
