About Joseph Richardson
Joseph came to Coshocton County “at an early day, when it was a wilderness inhabited by Indians and wild animals.” [1] He most likely came from Virginia after he or his family purchased or received land in the United States Military District from the United States or Virginia, as this is how most of the early Coshocton settlers got their start.
Joseph was born around 1794 in Virginia,[8] and fist appears in Coshocton in his marriage record in 1817. Coshocton County was founded in 1811, so Joseph probably came sometime around that time.
Research
A working theory is that Joseph's father was John Richardson, born in Virginia sometime between 1760 and 1770. Presently, this is not confirmed. See Richardson Research for more research notes.
