Will of Joseph Richardson, of Coshocton County, Ohio, United States

Deceased 7 Nov 1871

The Will

In the name of the Benevolent Father of All – Joseph Richardson of the Township of Jackson Coshocton County Ohio – Being desirous to settle as far as possible my earthly affairs and to dispose of my estate to the Real and personal in my natural lifetime to hereby Publish and declare this as my last will and Testament–

And First I will that my Executor be hereby authorized to sell at Public Venue(?) all my personal property not bequeathed to my wife Sarah A Richardson and out of the money that may arise from said sale pay all my just debts and funeral expenses, and costs of Administration – And authorize my Executor to put to my Grave a Marble Monument worth one hundred dollars–

Second– I will and bequeath unto my wife Sarah A. Richardson all of my household goods known as belonging to me – And I also will and bequeath unto my wife Sarah A. the sum of Sven hundred dollars to be paid to her by my Executor out of the first payment of the sale of my Real Estate– I will and bequeath unto my Son William[s] heirs the farm know as lot no. (13) thirteen in Range Seven (7) Township Six (6) and Section three (3) of United States Military land in the county of Coshocton State of Ohio the same, being a part of the Rathboal(?) Section in said county, with the press understanding that said heirs is to pay Doctor Maro(?) Johnson the sum of Sixty Seven $67.00.

I will unto my Daughter Jane’s heirs the sum of two-hundred dollars each, except the Daughter Jane Smith is only to have one hundred and Seventy dollars $170 – She having got a Cow in advance–

I will and bequeath unto my Daughter Ellen Moore the sum of Six hundred dollars– I hereby authorize an empower my Exceutor at the close of One Year after my death to Publicly Advertise my Real Estate (not already disposed of) for Sale on the following terms (to wit) One third in hand on the day of Sale – One third in one year from the day of Sale – And the remaining third in two years from the day of Sale– the deferred payment to bear six percent interest– Sale to be made without an Order from Court– I will that out of the money raised from the Sale of my Real Estate the foregoing amounts all be paid as before stated and what money may remain unexpended to be equally divided among my legal heirs Except my Son Will’s heirs having got in advance their shares – my wife is to have an Equal share with my heirs in the dividend last made–

And lastly, I hereby appoint my son James Richardson as Executor of this my last will and testament–
