Modsley, Capt. Joseph, Glastonbury. Invt. £1701-14-03. Taken December, 1719, by Benjamin Talcott and Thomas Welles. A new invt. ordered by the Court, viz., the lands and buildings, valued at £1465-00-00, by Thomas Welles and Benjamin Talcott. Will dated the 12th of August, 1719.
I, Joseph Modsley of Glosomberry, in the County of Hartford, and in his Majestie's Colony of Connecticut in New England, husbandman, being very sick, do make and ordain this my last will and testament: Imprimis: I give and bequeath unto Abigail, my dearly beloved wife, ye sum of £100. Item. I give unto my eldest daughter, Abigail Liman, £100, reckoning what she hath already had. Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughters, that is to say, Sarah, Mary, Hannah and Rachell, £100 apiece. Item. I give unto my four sons, Abner, David, Isaac and Job, an equal division in all my estate reserved for them, saving only to my eldest son Abner an £100 more in the division than they the sd. other sons. I appoint my wife and eldest son Abner sole executors.

Page 178—6 November, 1722: The executors now move this Court to dist. the estate: Whereupon they order and appoint John Root, Consider Moseley and Thomas Ingersoll, of Westfield, to distribute according to the will.
Page 180—4 December, 1722: It being found that the lands of Mr. Joseph Moseley lying in Glastonbury had been apprised the whole together, this Court appoint Benjamin Talcott, Thomas Welles and Abram Kilbourn to appraise anew the said lands into parts and parcells as may be best for the heirs.
Page 25 (Vol. X) 6 August, 1723: Invt. now exhibited, also a report of the dist. Accepted.
Page 27—6 August, 1723: This Court appoint Mrs. Abigail Modsley to be guardian to her son Isaac Maudsley, 11 years of age, son of Joseph Maudsley late decd."
