Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

  • 13-294: 24 Feb 1767, James Patton's executors to Joseph McMurtery. 21.18. Property given by patent 3 Nov 1750. Delivered to Martin Baker, Jan 1770. 197 acres on Craig's Creek, on John's Creek, crossing Bryan's Creek.

Revolutionary War Land Grant

State of North Carolina
No. 3403 Know ye that we have granted Joseph McMurtry a tract of land containing three hundred acres lying and being in our County of Green, on both sides of Camp Creek Beginning at R two post Oaks thence East one hundred and fifty five poles to K two small white Oaks on the North East side of said Creek thence South three hundred and ten poles to M a white Oak in the Bank of the laurel Spring Branch then West one hundred and fifty five poles to B two pines on the top of a ridge thence North three hundred and ten poles to R the Beginning. To Hold to the said Joseph McMurtry his Heirs and assigns forever.
Dated the 20th day of September 1787
