[edit] Information on Joseph McDowellWas willed by his brother, Charles McDowell......one brown broad cloth coat and one beaver hat and one pair of snow boots. Emmigrated about 1741 to Winchester, Virginia, where he purchased land from his brother, Charles. He was a Captain in the French & Indian War. Joseph left will March 16, 1770. Probated November 1771. Exr: wife & sons Hugh & Charles. Witnesses: Philip Price, Abram Scott, Joseph Dobson. Rowan County, North Carolina Will Abstracts VOl 1 1753-1805. Was a weaver and planter.
