"1720 … Capt. Joseph3 Marsh b. Hartford. Ct., … bap. March 5. 1671, son of John and Sarah (Lyman) Marsh (John1), twin with Nathaniel, head of the East Hartford line, became himself head of the Lebanon line and its branches in Vermont and New York state. He m. (1) about 1696 at Hartford where his first and second children were baptized in the Second church, … Hannah. Mrs. Hannah was baptized 1702 and admitted to full communion in 1725. In 1697 he became a proprietor at Lebanon. Ct., southeast from Hartford. It was like going to a new world. To start a town developed men; and Lebanon has been a notable town. He became selectman for successive years, as Mr. Joseph Marsh in 1701, as Sergeant in 1710, as Lieutenant in 1718 and as Captain in 1730. He also represented the town in the general court of Connecticut in 1712, 1716, 1723, 1727 and 1731. He m. (2) Dec. 14, 1725, … Sarah, widow of George Webster. Her will was dated 1759. (Letter Hon.
