"17. Joseph Drake (John2, John1), born June 26, 1674, at Windsor, Conn.; married Ann, daughter of William and Mary (Burnham) Morton. She died Aug. 28, 1717, aged about 38. Joseph Drake married, (2) Sarah, widow of John Stoughton, who died about 1712. In 1731 Sarah Drake, wife of Joseph, formerly widow of John Stoughton, was cited to appear in Court. She had applied to have her dower as Stoughton's widow set to her. She died Jan. 7, 1746. John Stoughton married Jan. 23, 1689, Sarah Fitch. The distribution of William Morton, Sen., of Windsor, Mar. 2, 1712-13, mentions Ann Drake, wife of Joseph Drake. The will of Mary Morton, widow, of Windsor, dated Jan. 18, 1719-20, mentions the lands of 'my honored father Thomas Burnham, deceased,' and bequeaths one shilling to each of the children of 'my daughter Ann Drake.' The will of Joseph Drake of Windsor, dated Mar. 4, 1746/7 (he died Jan. 14, 1754), gave his home lot to his two sons, Thomas and David, to his son Joseph's heirs, 20 pounds, to sons, William and Abel, each 80 pounds, to son John, five shillings. These are the only children mentioned. He was buried in East Windsor."
