Facts and Events
Address:
Joseph's Sponsor (God Parent) was Eliza Colgan, there was a Colgan family shared the house in Braithwaite Street in 1901, the mother of that family was Mary Ellen Colgan so it could possibly have been one of the Colgan family. He was a soldier (machine gunner 16th battalion Dublin brigade) in the Free State army, who guarded over the republican prisoners in Mountjoy prison.
From the church records, I found the baptism of Thomas Patrick Barrett, born in 1926, Joseph and Ellen's address at the time was 10 Marshelsea Barracks. After that Joseph then lived in 6 South Summer Street, which became 36 South Summer Street due to redevelopment of the area. He lived lived at that address for about 40 years, then moved to 204 Keeper Road, Drimnagh. He worked in Ringsend Road, in Alexander Hull's as a motor mechanic for 26 years, was let go at the age of 60. References
