Will of Jonathan Smith
- Will: 1 Oct 1787, Hopewell Twp, Cumberland, PA. 178 The Will states:
- Wife Abigail, 1/3 of my moveable estate; also her negro wench named Miriam; she is to have the privilege in house and garden and to be provisioned by my sons, Joseph and William, while she remains my widow, she is also to have his part of dowry in lands belonging to her first husband, and sundry household goods and farming utensils left in the hand of her son, Nathaniel. Daughter-in-law, Joanna Moore, 2 cows and a handsome outset; also a riding horse and saddle, and the use of a back room while she remains single. Son, John, my great Bible, a share of my apparel and 5 pounds. Son, Jonathan, 5 pounds, and a share of my apparel. Daughter, Mary Moore, 50 pounds, to be paid by my sons Joseph and William, or, in case of her decease, to her childern. Son, Joseph, all my buildings. Sons, Joseph an William, remainder of real personal divided equally between them. Executors - sons, John and Joseph. Witnesses John Muirheid, Joanthan Waters, George Murheid.
