Utica Observer-Dispatch, 3 Jul 1982: JOHN STUART WELCH Whitesboro-John Stuart Welch, 12 Dennison AV, July 1, 1982 in Faxton Hospital. He was born in Marcy, November 5, 1900, the son of Michael H. and Mary Miller Welch. He received his education in Whitesboro schools. He married Blanche F. Downs September 9, 1927 in Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was employed at Niagara Mohawk for over 31 years, and at the time of his retirement in 1955 he was foreman at the Gas Plant at Harbor Point. He was a member of the 25 Year Club, an exempt member of the Whitesboro Fire Dept. Benevolent Assoc. and Oriskany Lodge #799 F&AM Mr. Welch is survived by his wife; one son, John S. Welch, Jr. of Painted Post; three grandchildren… Friends are invited to attend his service Saturday morning… at the J.W. Dimbleby Funeral Home with the Rev. John S. Hutchinson officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
