John Walby was baptised on 27th March 1774 at Aston in Hertfordshire, son of Alice Walby, formerly Wright, and her husband George Walby, a labourer. John has yet to be traced after his baptism. One possibility is that he may have been the John Worbey who moved to the nearby market town of Hitchin, marrying an Elizabeth Monk there in 1802.
