Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 5, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Sleath, John - entered service in Augusta County (area later Pendleton County), Virginia, as substitute for Mr. Mouse in Virginia Regiment; died 1793-94 in Lewis County, Virginia; married 1777-78 Anna Flesher, Augusta County, Virginia by Reverend Joseph Redding; widow married there (2) 1796 to Charles Parsons who died 11/4/1823 Jackson County, Virginia; widow applied for Pension age 85 in Jackson County, Virginia, 1846, per County Justice of the Peace George Stone & County Court Clerk Andrew Waugh; widow 's brother Andrew S. Flesher made affidavit there then he was born 5/1771 & he was present at soldier's wedding; widow's sister Elizabeth Flesher made affidavit then age 68 there she herself married 2/1793 & her daughter was born 1/12/1795; widow's brother Adam Flesher made affidavit then in Lewis County, Virginia, age 82, per county Justice of the Peace Minter Bailey & County Clerk of court John Morrow; George Butcher made affidavit there then he was age 5-6, when soldier & widow married, & widow resided at his father's home when soldier was in service per County Justice of the Peace William J. Bland; widow's Pension Application Rejected, per current Pension Laws. F-S14479, 2199.
