Camden, March 10-Without having regained consciousness John Skerritt, who shot himself through the head with a rifle, died yesterday. He had been in ill health for six weeks and suffered from excessive nervousness, which brought on melancholy insanity during which he committed the act. Coroner M.T. Powers of Rome was called on the case. Mr. Skerritt came here with his family from Amboy last fall so his two daughters would be near a good school. He owned a fine farm in Amboy and was located on the John Swanson place, a short distance from this village. He was about 75 years old and had been a farmer most of his life. He was well and favorably known in this section, and general sympathy is extended the bereaved family.
