Went to Tennessee about 1802 on a survey crew. About 1808, his father Martin and his Uncle Peter moved to what is know Bedford County to claim land on Thompson Creek of the Duck River. These lands were claimed under the land grant for soldiers of the Revolutionary War. Bedford TN Shofners spelled it with 1 f.
