Note: there are sources that have an incorrect birthdate and date of death for John Sage. In his Rutherford County court appearance of August 29, 1820, he is recorded as then being 64 years old. The National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol 45:105, has his date of death as August 12, 1827. There are also court records recounting his appearance on August 29, 1820, in Rutherford County and his will was recorded there in 1827, which agrees with the August 12, 1827 date.
