    YATTON
THE DIOCESAN CHORAL FESTIVAL AT WELLS. - In preparation for this festival, which is to take place in Wells Cathedral on Thursday next, there was a rehearsal in the parish church on Thursday evening, when 150 voices attended from the parishes of Backwell, Blagdon, Cleeve, Cheddard, Kenn, Long Ashton, Worle, and Yatton, and the choirs were very creditably sung through the whole of the service. The following clergy were present:- The vicar, the Rev. Preb. Barnard; Rev. F.C. Skey, vicar of Weare; Rev. E. Burbidge, rector of Backwell; and the Rev. G. Lyon, of Blagdon. Mr Medhurst, of Weston-super-Mare and organist of Worle Church, presided at the organ, assisted by Mr R.T. Ward, orgainst of Long Ashton. The Rev. F.C. Skey conducted and stated that he was very pleased with the satisfactory way the whole of the service had been sung by all the parts. A large number of persons occupied the side aisles of the church. Afterwards the vicar kindly invited the choristers to the school, where they were supplied with refreshments. Another rehearsal will take place in Long Ashton on Tuesday evening, when Mr Skey will again conduct.
