    [Hudson in his History of Marlborough says John lived on lands set off to Southborough. Note: case 39254 for John Mathis of Southborough shows administration being granted 9 May 1744 to widow Jerusha. This is undoubtedly John's son who m. Jerusha Bigelo. So it would seem case 39253: John Mathis, physician of Southborough, administered by his son John, is this John. Parts of this probate are published in MD, Vol. 44, p. 49, 51-52.]
