Facts and Events
According to descendant Bill Slager, "Hans Michael" had a 188 acre farm in Heidelberg Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He served in the Revolutionary War. There were many Lauer families in the Berks County region. --White Creek 17:21, 24 January 2014 (UTC) An update on the research on "MICHAEL". He arrived in Philadelphia in 1737 on the ship Samuel, with his parents, and at least one sister. His eldest child, John Michael moved his family to Orange County, Virginia in circa 1788-90. Apparently his brother Johann Peter, and his family accompanied him. Also sister Juliana. This group apparently traveled to many locations, accompanied by relatives from Berks Co., Pennsylvania. They moved on to Clermont Co., Ohio, Preble Co., Ohio, Wayne Co., Indiana, Fayette Co., Indiana, Madison Co., Indiana, Hamilton Co., Indiana, and places west. Mostly to Iowa and on to Oregon. Even Arkansas. Along the way they married into other families, which joined them in their migrations across the country. "MICHAEL'S" second eldest child, Heinrich (Henry) and his descendants seemed to have remained in the Pennsylvania / New Jersey area; as did youngest daughter Christina, and her family. A descendant in Henry's line is Jack Akerboom, who has compiled a very comprehensive genealogy of these "Hirstein Lowers". Most of the daughters we do not have much data about. "MICHAEL'S" youngest son, Christian, was George Washington's DRUMMER BOY at the Battle of Brandywine, in 1777. He moved on to Tuscarawas Co., Ohio by 1820. The next decade found him in adjacent Coshocton Co., Ohio. Many of his descendants remain in the area, alongside some other Lowers, who remain unknown. Some of Christian's descendants moved on to Wabash Co., Indiana, where there were other Lower families. --White Creek 02:46, 5 April 2017 (UTC) Image Gallery
