Records of John Keys in Virginia

John Keys is named in the will of his father, Roger Keys:

  • Will of Roger Keys, of Rockbridge Co., Va., dated 14 March, 1781, names his wife, Sariah, his sons, Benjamin and John, and his son-in-law, Thomas Haman. [Source: Genealogy Magazine, Ocean Grove, NJ, Vol. 10, No. 2, June 1921].

Marriage of John Keys

Circumstantial evidence links this John Keys as the probable husband of Jeanette 'Jane' Lowry. Sources indicate that John's wife was named Jenette, and other sources claim that Jeanette Lowry, daughter of John Lowry of the Borden Tract, married a "Mr. Keys". The family of Roger Keys lived in the southeast section of the Borden Tract, very nearby where the family of John Lowry was also located, supporting this possibility. More research is necessary.
