John(1) Ilsley, of Salisbury, "barber," b. ab. 1613 or '14; free. 1639; m. Sarah Haffield (Richard). He recd. land in the "first division" and 1640' "commoner" and taxed 1650 and '52; recd. land in 1654 and his name appears on later lists to 1680. He d. Dec. 10, 1683[S]; inv. est. March 19, presented March 25, 1684, by Philip Greeley. Wife Sarah d. Aug. 3, 1673[S]. [Wm. and John were prob. brothers. A William "Ilsbey," age 26, and a John "Ilsbey," both "shoemakers," came in the ship "Confidence" in 1638. The former had a wife Barbara, aged 20, and a servant Phillip Davis (G. R., 1860, p. 335)]
