Facts and Events
John Adolphus Hutchings was born in 1850 at Winsham in Somerset, son of Mary Ann Hutchings, formerly Forsey, and her husband Edmund Wilkins Hutchings, a farm bailiff. John appears in the 1851 census living with his parents and siblings at Whatley in the parish of Winsham. He appears to have been the youngest of seven children.
Between 1851 and 1861 the family moved away from the Winsham area to Northover near the small town of Ilchester, where they appear in the 1861 census.
By 1870 the family had moved again to Little Windsor in the parish of Broadwindsor in Dorset, just across the county boundary from Winsham. John died here as a young man of 20, being buried at Broadwindsor on 21st September 1870.
