[edit] Revolutionary War Pension InformationInformation from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 1, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. : Craig, John Hawkins - entered service 1780 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia; born 3/1763; moved in 1781 with father & family to Kentucky, where entered service at Bryants Station; granted Pension 1833 in Boone County, Kentucky, where he died 4/8/1752; married 3/1802 to Sally S. Snelling, Woodford County, Kentucky; widow granted Pension & granted Bounty Land Warrant there in 1853 abt. age 86; no mention of any children; soldier was brother of Lewis & they resided in youth in Fredericksburg, Virginia; query letter in file 1912 from descendant Frances E. Emerson, Plymouth, Indiana; query letter in file 1930 from great grandson Henry H. Craig states soldier's daughter-in-law was living in 1904 at age 89, further soldier's eldest son of John Hawkins Craig, Sr., born probably 1732 in Spotswood, Virginia, married in Virginia Sally Paige, came to Kentucky in 1781 with family, & died in Boone County in 1814, who was also defender of Bryant's Station during siege.
