Wit: John Lewis, James Fulton, Francis Beaty. 25 Sept. 1741. Acknowledged by William Beverley, Esq. [Orange County Deed Book 6, pg. 31].

Disposition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:

Indenture 22 May 1745 between John Buckhannon (Buchanan) of Beverley Manor in Orange County, Yeoman, of one part and David Cloyd of New Castle County in the Province of Pennsylvania, Yeoman... for sum of five shillings paid by David Cloyd.. granted 400 acres... that part of Orange County known as Augusta... on the road side of the Blue Ridge and on the West side of James River and on the head of a branch of Goose Creek... bounded as follows.. lands of James Patton, John Buchanan.. (signed) John Buckhannon (seal). Witnesses: James Patton, Silas Hart, Samuel Gay. Payment of ₤27.15.10... Release recorded 23 May 1745. [Orange County Deed Book 10, pg. 33].

  • Page 69.--28th November, 1750. Wm. Nutt to John Buchanan, 416-1/2 acres dated 27th July, 1744, part of 650 acres conveyed by Beverley by decree of Orange Co. Same land involved in suit in Orange, Nutt vs. Gibbins Jennings and Wm. Beverley, conveyed by Beverley to Nutt, 13th August, 1745; corner John Coulter, Mill Creek; corner James McCorkals, etc., water grist mill. Eleanor, wife of Wm. Nutt. Teste: Andrew Cowan, John Rutledge, Francis Beatey.
  • John Buchanan received a patent of 684 acres on 22nd August, 1753, on Chestnut Creek, a branch of New River on So. side thereof, as listed in the dispositions below. (Note: this tract was sold to John Buchanan, this John Buchanan's son, in 1755, as shown below).
  • John Buchanan received a patent of 880 acres by patent, 22d August, 1753. on Indian River, as listed in the dispositions, below. (Note: this tract was sold to John Buchanan, this John Buchanan's son, in 1755, as shown below).
