    JOHN ARTMAN (SR)
born ca 1743 died ca 1816

John Artman purchased 200 acres on Waters of Bear Creek, Hardin County. Ky. 26 February 18O5 and was living on the property at the time of the purchase. He first appeared on the Tax List, Hardin County in 1800, however no property is shown so it has not been determined if he was living on the 200 acres above that early. He continues to be shown on the Tax Lists of Hardin County unti1 1810 at which time Grayson County was formed. He was taxed for the 200 acres on Bear Creek, Grayson County from 1810 through 1815. He does not appear on the Tax Lists again and we assume he died 1815 or 1816. No one appears to be taxed for this property in 1816, however, in 1817 Peggy Artman is taxed for 200 acres Bear Creek, 1818 Margaret Artman is taxed for 200 acres Bear Creek, 1819 Jacob Artman is taxed for 200 acres Bear Creek, 1820 nothing is shown and 1821 Margaret Artman is again taxed for the 200 acres. By 1822 Jacob Artman is again taxed for this property suggesting the mother, Margaret "Peggy" Artman is now deceased.

I believe this John Artman of Kentucky to be the same person that was in German Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania before 1800. (See page one)
