In September 2002, Sten Karlsson indicated that Ingemar Karlsson lived on the Nykulla Södregård land and might have a picture of Johannes. I wrote him a letter in October 2002 and asked him if he knew of any living relatives of the six children of Johannes.

We also found the paper from when Johannes Petterson and Matilda Catharina Petersdotter bought Nykulla Södregård from Johannes Pettersons parents, Petter Johan Jonas Jonasson and Kristina Bengtsdotter, 18 Feb 1889. (Kristoffer Karlsson 2002)

SCRAPBOOK NOTES:

1910 PHOTO: FROM LEFT: ERIK , JOHANNES, GUSTAV, MATHILDA, IDA, FRIDA, KARL. (IT IS ASSUMED THAT PER HAD ALREADY LEFT FOR AMERICA WHEN THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN)

I understand you have had discussions with Folke so some of this may not be new to you. I had my translator look at the book and he identified the person who may have hid the letters. The family that emigrated to Australia (Karl Evald Eriksson) tells the story of first wanting to go to Amerika and find the "Brothers" and "Cousins" but being told of Mathilda belief that they wanted no association with there Swedish family and how he, Karl, learned later that was not true. And that it was Mathilda who stopped communicating with her sons Per and Gustav. Have you heard this story? Mike 12/04
