Listed as a possible son of Hans George Bechtel (b. 1676):
'[?] Johannes Bechtel, b. c1700. ?d. 1779, Germany. He may have been the "Old Father" Hans Bechtel who was reported to have died in Germany according to a letter from Johannes Neff to Peter Weber written on 18 Mar 1779. He married Magdalena. He was a Mennonite deacon in 1731 in the Zimmerhof congregation probably living at Treschklingen. His son Christian was born at Treschklingen, Germany in 1739. He moved to Zuzenhausen in 1741. He lived at Zuzenhausen in 1743 with his wife, four sons and three daughters. He lived at Zuzenhausen in 1753 and it stated that he "had been farming at the Agnestal castle for 12 years". In 1753 he was with his wife, two sons and three daughters. In 1759 he was living at Zuzenhausen with his wife Magdalena and children; Christian, Michael and Anna.'
