• Page 446.--25th August, 1784. Immanuel ( ) Harless, of Montgomery County, to William Beard. Delivered to Isaac Darnell by a written order from Wililam Beard and commission of privy examination 22d November, 1788, 40 acres patented to Archibald Hamilton and was finally conveyed to Philip Harless, deceased, 400 acres patented to Philip 27th August, 1770, and devised to Immanuel by Philip, his father.

• Page 448.--21st June, 1769. Michael Price binds himself in £100 to Philip Horless. Whereas Michael and Philip jointly purchased a tract from Col. James Patton, on Tom's Creek, containing 650 acres, but patent was issued in name of Philip alone, 31st October, 1765, of which Philip has conveyed 365 acres above, conditions not to hold Philip responsible of the patent fails.

See Heavener, p. 61, German New River Settlement (Baltimore: GPC, 1981). Philip Harless I was one of the very first settlers in the New River Settlement. Name given as John Philip Harless in Harless Family Bulletin, vol . 9 no. 1 (1971), p. 4. Yates & Price, Increase in Prices, p. 2. will dated 21 Mar 1772, probated 19 May 1772, record ed in Will Book 4, p. 493, Augusta Co., VA. Augustine, Henry, Daniel Price and Charles Rush were named administrators to his will. \par \par Some records state that he is buried in Augusta County, Virginia. \par \par In 1738 Philip and Anna Margarette, alone with her brothers (Johann) Michael, (William) Augustine, Henry and Daniel, immigrated to America. They sailed from Rotterdam at the mouth of the Thine River In Holland to Philadelphia on a galley called Winter (often called the Winter Galley). On 5 Sep 1738 in Philadelphia, Philip made his oath of allegiance, a requirement of all male immigrants aged over 18 at that time. \par \par A Brief History of Johan Philip Harless: \par According to J.L.
