Facts and Events
[edit] Personal HistoryJeremiah Kittredge, third son of Thomas Kittredge (Jr.) and Anna (Thorndike), was born 5 October 1763, in Tewksbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[1][2] He died intestate 23 August 1818, in the same place, in Massachusetts.[3] Jeremiah Kittredge and Annar Chapman were married 24 January 1793, in Tewksbury. The town records of Tewksbury list the births of their children. In the will of his grandfather, Thomas Kittredge, dated 9 October 1793 and probated in 1794, Jeremiah inherited two thirds of his grandfather's estate including the lands and buildings in Tewksbury, husbandry tools, live stock, and money, excepting two thirds of the amount of the debts and legacies. He was joint executor with his father Thomas Jr. who inherited the other third of the estate. In his father's will dated 14 December 1805 and probated in 1806, Jeremiah inherited “all the residue and remainder of my estate both Real and Personal” and was appointed sole executor. On 25 April 1820,[4] in the probate court of Middlesex Co., Josiah Brown of Tewksbury was appointed administrator of the estate of Jeremiah Kittredge of Tewksbury, yeoman. Josiah Brown, along with Jonathan Fisk of Woburn and John Going of Wilmington, signed a bond in the amount of $5000. In May 1820, an inventory of the estate was taken with the real estate, including the homestead lot of about 7 acres and additional lots of about 182 acres, valued at $2042 and personal estate valued $194.49. Annar Kittredge, widow of Jeremiah, was granted an allowance of $100 from the personal estate, and on 18 November 1820, an inventory of her dower from the real estate was taken and valued at $680.66.
