    Jeffrey JOHNSON of Fauquier County, Virginia dated 11 Jun 1782 - Will Proved 26 May 1783 Will Book 1 Page 469-470:
    In the name of God Amen. I Jeffrey JOHNSON of Fauquier County and State of Virginia being sick and weak in body, but having my perfect mind and memory do make my last will and testament as here after followeth: First I willingly bequeath my soul in the hands of God my Heavenly Father ??? my body to the ground to be decently buried at the descretion of my executors hereafter named in certain hope of a joyful ressurection. And as for what worldly estate it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me I dispose of it as followeth:
    Item, I leave and bequeath to my well beloved son Alexander JOHNSON a certain parcel of land whereon he now lives beginning at a rock called the chimney shore thence running stone branch to Carter's run . . . .. . . . .. . and the said run to the Manor of Leeds and then along said manor line to the corner adjoining the lands of Anderson COCKRELL along his line to the first beginning at the said chimney stone to his family and heirs forever. Item I lend to my . . .. .. . . . wife Sarah Johnson all the rest of my estate both land and . . .. . . .. . . .. during her natural life if she remains a widow, but if she should remarry that it is my will that she should have one fifth part. . . . . no more. Item after the ceceased of my beloved wife or her marriage I leave and bequeath the remainder of my land whereon I now live to be divided aforesaid to my son Bailey JOHNSON, on Carter's Run.....joining Alexander JOHNSON and John MOFFITT to his and his family forever. To James JOHNSON the balance of any land or plantation to a certain tract of land on the Rappahanock mountains now loan to William SMTH two hundred sixty acres to him or his heirs forever. It is my will if either of my two sons Presly or John die before coming of age then the either of my two sons Presly or John died before that come of age then the surviving brother to possess the whole left or if both die before that inheritance [of] the land then the land is to be sold and the money arising from the sale to be equally divided among all my children. Item, I leave and bequeath all the rest of my estate not already disposed of the wit all my stock of all ............... house hold kitchen furniture after my wife's decease to be equally divided among my four daughters namely, Mary COCKRELL, Elizabeth MORRIS, & Sary and Lydia JOHNSON give heirs forever. And lastly I reverse all other testaments by me made and appoint my two sons Bailey JOHNSON and Alexander JOHNSON sole executors of this my last will and testament as witness my hand this 11th day of Jun 1782.
