Usage Tips

CAUTION: This source contains material of very low quality and users should avoid citing.

Full description from FamilySearch.

The Pedigree Resource File is the successor to the Ancestral File -- a database of lineage-linked pedigrees that have been submitted to the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Although the records allegedly contain contain unedited notes and sources, those appear to be either extremely rare or not displayed online.

Users cannot submit corrections. If one submits a new "corrected" submission of a tree, both the new and the old data remain together in the database. Unlike the Ancestral File, no merges were attempted, so there can be many copies of records about the same person in the database.

Because of the user-submitted, unverified nature of the submissions and the impossibility of correction, the data in the trees should not be trusted and should be used to provide clues only. It should not be cited as a source on WeRelate unless it can possibly be avoided.
