James Wood married Ann Lipscomb 11 October 1784. Surity: William Lipscomb. Married 12 October by Rev. William Douglas. p. 26 Louisa County, Virginia. (Marriages of Louisa County Va. 1766-1815 compiled by Kathleen Booth Williams.
On August 17, 1789, James Wood bought acreage on both sides of Thickety Cr, Spartanburg County, S.C. Witness: Wm. Lipscomb, George Hening, and Richd Thomson. (Bk. B, p.317-318 Louisa County Deed Records.)
James Wood's will dated 18 Sept 1798 (File #2144 Original Wills of Spartanburg County, S.C.) names six children (one born later) and "friends" William Lipscomb and his son Smith Lipscomb.
James Wood died the following year.
(Ann Elizabeth) Nancy Wood made her will 8 February 1842, (naming her children as above) in Spartanburg, S.C. which was witnessed by Smith Lipscomb, Senr., John R. Richard and James Richards. She died in 1846. (Spartanburg Co. Estate Papers File #477)
