  • Stevens, James - born 7/23/1759-60 Orange County, Virginia, son of John & Sarah, where he entered service 1777 in 2nd Virginia Regiment; received Pension 1832 in Warren County, Kentucky, where died 9/3/1832 when daughter Lucy Quisenberry had family bible & soldier's son Edward resided there; married 7/9/1783 Susanna, daughter of John Haydon, Lincoln County, Kentucky who was born 3/25/1768; Abner Haydon (no kinship given) witness to Marriage License; widow received Pension 1839 in Warren County, Kentucky & died there 8/18/1843; son Abner then administrator of her estate; children's births: John 3/23/1784, William 12/15/1785, James 10/10/1788, Synthia 12/8/1789, Lucy 10/19/1791, Sarah 4/22/1793, Alfred 3/23/1796, Abner 3/25/1802, Edward 2/6/1804, Theresy 4/6/1806 & Madison M. 6/29/1808; other family data: James Monroe Stevens born 3/6/1829, Bulielmus Stevens born 5/4/1815, Parmelia Eveline Narcissa Stevens born 8/15/1818, Chesterfield C. Quisenberry born 4/6/1821 & married 3/4/1839, Harriet Ann Quisenberry born 3/25/1825; soldier's daughter Lucy's 1st husband Mr. Quisenberry died & she married 12/1837 William N. James Stevens, b. 23 Jul 1760 d. 23 Sep 1832, was the son of John Stevens and Sarah Montague of Orange Co., VA. This is proven by the will of John Stevens found in Will BK 6. p. 367 of Orange Co., VA. Susannah Haydon was the daughter of John Haydon and Lucy Morton. Proven by will of John Haydon found in Will BK "A" p. 13 of Jessamine Co., KY.
