James Marshall was baptised on 6th July 1760 at Luton in Bedfordshire, son of Elizabeth Marshall, formerly Saunders, and her husband John Marshall. The family lived in the hamlet of Chiltern Green, to the south-east of the town.

James has yet to be traced after his baptism.
