In the Name of God Amen this twenty fifth Day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven [sic., hundred] and sixty I James Alliso[n] of Rowan County in the Province of North Carolina Freth____? being verry sick and weak of Body but of perfect Mind and Mem[ory], [T]hanks be given to God for the same and calling to Mind the Mort[ality] & my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this to be my last Will & Testament in Manner and [F]orm as followeth that is to say principally & first of all I give and recommend my Soul to the Hands of God who have it and for my last? I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like ___ manner at the Descretion of my Executors ____ the general Resurrection I shall receive the ___ ag__ Power of God and as touching such ___ wor[ship].. it hath bun? pleased God to bless me with in this Lif[e]... as followeth.
In the first Place I will and bequeath .... Charges & lawfull Debts to be paid.
Secondly I be[queath to my] beloved Wife Mary Allison the third part of my [estate].. & the use of the Plantation.... presence? of sd. James Allison. And in Case of her marrying old? Son's coming of Age the Plantation is to be sold the ols? so" priiviledge to purchase if so inclined and the money is to be divided among sd. Children in cluding the Child that She __ Allison is great with at present & put to Interest for the use Bkoof? os sd. Children together with their equal Proporti[on] of my Personal Estate.
Lastly I do hereby appoint constitute ordain my well beloved Brother Andrew Allison, James Carso[n] Gardner of the County and Province aforesaid to be the Execu[tors] of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby disavow disannul and revoke all Will or Wills Testament or Teataments Legacies whatsoever heretofore bequeathed willed or made by m[e] untill the pty? of the Date hereof allowing this only to be my l[ast] Will and Testament.
In Witness whereof I have interobany? set my Hand and Seal the Day and Year above written. ~
