23 JACOB STUCKER b. 12-19-1768 in Northampton Co., Pa. He died in Jefferson Co., Ind. 1844, age 76 yrs. m. (1) 1789 Sarah Mixel (Mitchell) in Kentucky. (from Family Bible.) She d. early in 1791, probably at William's birth m. (2) 3-24-1791 Sarah Gudshall, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Gudshall (Gans) (also spelled Gottschalk.) (from Woodford County Records) Jacob was in the Siege of Bryant's Station August14 - 15, 1782 He had Revolutionary pension in Woodford Co., KY. He and his brother John also had certificates for fighting in Defense of the Border in 1789. He was in Woodford Co. in 1810 where he was listed with 12 in family. Soon after he moved over into Jefferson Co., Territory of Indiana where he died. In War of 1812 Johnson's Reg. KY Mtd. Vol. Inf., Co. 9. Jacob and brothers,Henry and John and mother, Margaret Miles, bought land from John Miles in 1787 in Woodford Co. About 1796 he bought out part or all of Henry's share. Jacob entered and owned the land in Indiana where Hanover College now stands. Jacob's family Bible lists the children of Sarah Gudshall but not William who it is claimed by the family was the son of Sarah Mixel. Two members of the family, far removed from each other, are responsible for the legend that William was a child of first marriage, and Margaret first child of second marriage. (The above marriage date taken from Woodford County court records re: Sarah Gudshall and from the family Bible).
NOTES by E.S. Under Miss Stewart's instructions I have written in the record of 23, that Jacob m. Sarah Mixel which data was not in original manuscript. There always seems to be some doubt on this William Stucker{# 231 p. 95}. His birth is NOT mentioned in Michael's Bible, but all of Michael's and Nancy's children are specifically designated as their children; however, William's marriage, the birth of some of his children, and his death are recorded in Michael's Bible.
