Van Matre, Isaac - entered service 1778 in western part of Pennsylvania (then claimed by Virginia) in Virginia regiment; Pensioned abt. age 73 in Grayson County, Kentucky, 1832; brother Jacob made affidavit then abt. age 79 in Hardin County, Kentucky; soldier died 11/4/1840 in Grayson County, Kentucky; married 4/5/1825 Jane Carson (Marriage Bond 4/4/1825) signed by Aaron Hart), Hardin County, Kentucky; widow Pensioned abt. age 67 in Grayson County, Kentucky, 1853; granted Bounty Land Warrant #28629 there 1855 abt. age 68; soldier's surname spelled also Van Metre & Van Meter; query letter in file says soldier married (1) Martha Hubbard Haagland; query letter in file from Anna R. Van Meter; query letter in file states soldier was born 7/2/1759 in Virginia, further a Samuel Haycraft b. 9/11/752 (11/19/1752?) in Virginia. F-W25824, R2448. (Note: Samuel Haycraft was the brother-in-law of Isaac Van Meter).
