In Independence, N. Y., Oct. 18th, 1864, of erysipelas, Isaiah W. Green, in the 70th year of his age. Bro. Green was born in Berlin, Rensselaer Co., N. Y., and at the time of his death, had been a resident of Allegany County some 46 years. He was formerly a member of the First Seventh-day Baptist Church of Alfred, but when the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Independence was organized, he was one of the few who composed it, and with it he remained, one of its most liberal contributors for the support of the gospel, until his death. He was a man of unusual activity, and remained so to within a few days of his death. His sickness was only for a few days, but very severe. In his death, his wife has lost an affectionate husband, his children a tender father, the church and community one of its most substantial members. J. K.
