About Isaac Smith

The James Stewart Family of Early Augusta County, Virginia & Descendants 1740-1960 by Florence Smith Dickerson (Sent to ESB by Karl Hoback) (Pg. 228 & 229.) Isaac SMITH was a soldier of the Revolution, he served in the corps of Marquis de Lafayette at Yorktown. He lived in Rockingham County, Virginia, the part at that time in Augusta County, Virginia. In about 1770 he married Miss Simms, in 1782 he went to the New River with Charles Walker. His sons were Ezekiel, Benjamin, & William, the latter born 1774 & a daughter, Susanna, who married Absolum Stewart, 20th July 1793. In 1784, Isaac SMITH had 400 acres of land, he served nine years as a soldier in the Virginia lines.

    Isaac Smith (b.ca.1738) was a son of Thomas Smith and Phoebe Dunbar (?) , and he married Hannah Simms. They lived in Virginia; their children lived in Montgomery County, Virginia and moved to Monroe County, West Virginia and then to Seguin, Guadalupe County, Texas. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and elsewhere.

    Includes Anderson, Bird, Dingess (Dingus), Gilmore, Hill, Lusk, Sample, Wilson and related families.
