This Isaac Washington Pierce joined the Mormon Church in 1833. He died in Illinois on December 28, 1841
On an old survey plat of the public land office what is now Chase's Ranch is labeled under the name Isaac Pierce. This is undoubtedly Isaac Washington Pierce Jr. the son of the man who died in 1841, and the younger brother of George H. Pierce who developed the ranch who filed on the oil shale claims, and whose sons and grandson dug a shaft and drove a tunnel in an effort to hold the mineral rights.
Because of the location of the old oil shale retort in Chris's Creek, because the water from Chris's Creek was used to develop the old Pierce Ranch, now owned by Chase.
